It’s often said, but bears repeating—there are a lot of really good people in the crime/mystery community. Craig T. McNeely, publisher of Dark Corners magazine and Double Life Press, is definitely one of them. Unfortunately, he and his family have fallen on hard times in the last few months.
If you don’t know Craig, or if you aren’t familiar with his publishing company, here’s an excerpt from an interview we did earlier this year:
If you had to sum it up, what kind of writing are you most looking to publish in DARK CORNERS or through Double Life Press?
Artists and storytellers are what makes life worth living and so bad art and stories, which is to say art and stories that have not been given the time, attention and care they deserve to become the art and stories they should be, don’t deserve a moment of your time. After all, there are simply too many excellent artists and storytellers to give time to anyone else.
I want the kind of writing that the author couldn’t keep inside them if they tried. I want writing that feels like it could go anywhere. I want to be entertained.
