Got together with director extraordinaire David Brandvik over the weekend. David is the man who is turning my short story, FIX ME, into a short film. We start shooting that one next month, so for now we’re focusing on the book trailer for my debut novel, BAD CITIZEN CORPORATION.
We’d previously sketched out a trailer concept, but this time around we actually rolled up our sleeves. I’m always impressed by David’s ability to help shape my half-baked ideas, but there’s one thing we agreed on from the start—this thing needs to be fast-paced and punchy. That means less narrative and quicker cuts.
We assembled footage, pulled graphics together, made a shot list and chose bed music. Then David threw me out of his studio. Apparently he likes to work alone…in silence. It might have had something to do with my excitement level watching it come together. We’ll never know for sure.
Anyway, I’ll have something to show you next week. Stay tuned.
